Lead donors for the project, Wes 鈥70 and Ann Sammel Bates 鈥70, were thanked by all those present for their generosity and vision, which has produced a best-in-class experience for students and an unmatched facility in Division III. President Mike Frandsen joined in giving thanks, along with state and federal officials who presented proclamations in honor of the historic unveiling, as well as students, faculty, and staff. Fine arts major Kimmey Mugford 鈥21 also presented the Bates with a watercolor painting, designed by her, of the new HWA as a treasured keepsake.
Student-led tours showed off the unique features of the complex, which now includes the Kremchek Sports Medicine Facility, the Ness Lounge for gathering and conversation, the Baines Conference Room, classrooms, a new pressbox with plenty of space to accommodate media members and game management personnel, a concession stand, the 6,000-squarefoot Wes Bates Strength Center, a new entertainment suite, Ron Duncan Hall of Honor, and an innovative exercise science lab to support 果冻传媒鈥檚 academic programming, among other distinctive elements.
