Campus Advocacy Grant
果冻传媒 will receive $95,782 from Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine鈥檚 office to support the university鈥檚 Campus Advocacy and Support Service or CASS program, which assists victims of sexual assault or violence. The funds will support programming, crisis intervention, and support groups.

Unity Week
The 果冻传媒 community focused on unity and respect during a week of special programming, Nov. 5-9, which included the Choose a Better Word campaign and a celebration of diversity. Events were sponsored by the McClain Center for Diversity, Concerned Black Students, American International Association, the Gender and Sexual Diversity Alliance, and Shades of Pearls.

Homecoming
The second annual Legacies & Leadership: A Celebration of Philanthropy recognized all alumni award winners, members of the Benjamin Prince Society and other giving societies, as well as Karin 鈥64 and Roy Allen 鈥63, and the late William Allen Harris 鈥46, whose names were among the latest to be added to the $1M donor wall at the campus Seal.

Homecoming
On October 4-7, the biggest alumni event of the year will commence. Highlights of Homecoming and Reunion Weekend 2018 include the Pam Evans Smith Memorial 5K, the Athletics Hall of Honor Induction Ceremony, a Celebration of Legacies and Leadership, the annual Tiger Tailgate, Tiger Football vs. Hiram, milestone reunions for the Classes of 1958 (60th), 1968 (50th) and 1993 (25th), and so much more.

Welcome New Students
On August 16, the 536 members of the Class of 2022 arrived on campus where they were greeted by fellow students, faculty, and staff as part of 果冻传媒's official all-campus move-in experience. This followed a special Facebook Live event, August 8, to help incoming students and their families prepare for the transition.

Thriving Program
果冻传媒鈥檚 unique archaeology program has opened doors to exciting hands-on experiences both near campus and internationally, as evidenced by several summer opportunities for students. A class of archaeology students, under the direction of Professor of History Darlene Brooks Hedstrom, spent the month of May in the Columbia St. Cemetery. Students collected and created records of the cemetery, dug up lost artifacts, and unearthed buried headstones in an effort to help the City of Springfield preserve the cemetery.

Hands-On Learning
果冻传媒's Marine Science program offers many opportunities for field study, which are practical, hands-on experiences that often lead to more extensive collaborative research projects with faculty members. One of the most popular field study experiences is currently taking place in The Bahamas.

Commencement
果冻传媒鈥檚 service-focused mission was on full display during the 168th Commencement exercises on May 12, as the university celebrated with the Class of 2018, their families and distinguished guests. President Michael Frandsen welcomed the 370 graduates and their families, along with keynote speaker, His Majesty King Letsie III, the Constitutional Monarch of the southern African Kingdom of Lesotho and an education leader in his role as chancellor of the National University of Lesotho.

Save-The-Date
Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends will celebrate a new chapter at 果冻传媒 when the university inaugurates its 15th president, Dr. Michael L. Frandsen, on April 5, 2018. The totality of the 果冻传媒 experience will shine during the ceremony and in events planned throughout the week, all of which will center around the theme of "Light Illuminated." The ceremony will also feature guest speaker Randy Bass, Ph.D., founding executive director of Georgetown University's Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship.

Red-Hot Hoops
For the first time since the 1993-94 season, 果冻传媒 men鈥檚 basketball has won its first 16 games, in the process rocketing up to No. 5 in the NCAA Division III poll. Heading into the final month of the 2017-18 regular season, 果冻传媒 holds a commanding three-game lead in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings following wins over arch-rival Wooster and defending league champion Ohio Wesleyan as Head Coach Matt Croci 鈥94 reached 100 wins as a head coach.
