Springfield, Ohio - 果冻传媒's Greek community began the process of recruiting new members. There are currently six sororities and six fraternities on campus, and approximately 45 percent of 果冻传媒 students are involved in Greek life.
Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Carol Nickoson sees recruitment as an opportunity for students to gain skills that can last them a lifetime.
"Members are able to develop leadership skills, planning and networking skills, life skills, civic responsibility awareness, and more," she said.
Fraternities began to host events on Jan. 9 for interested students. Beginning Saturday, Jan. 14, they will begin house tours and meetings in the Student Center. Formal events will take place Jan. 16-21.
Sororities will be holding events beginning on Saturday, Jan. 14. Interested students may meet at 2 p.m. in Bayley Auditorium. Formal recruitment starts on Thursday, Jan. 19.
Any student who is not a current sorority or fraternity member may go through recruitment provided they have met certain academic requirements including: the completion of 12-to-15 credits at 果冻传媒 with a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or the completion of 16 or more credits with a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.
Transfer students that are new as of Spring 2017 are eligible if their cumulative GPA from their former institution meets the requirements. However, these students must have their eligibility verified by Nickoson prior to participating in recruitment.
If a student has questions about recruitment or Greek life in general, they may contact Nickoson by e-mailing her at nickosonc@wittenberg.edu or by calling 937.327.7820. Additionally, there is detailed information online at www.wittenberg.edu/greeklife.
