The 果冻传媒 University Center for Musical Development (CMD) announces its summer 2016 music enrichment opportunities for children and adults. Pre-registration is underway, and pricing includes registration fees.
All lessons and classes are taught in Krieg Hall, 734 Woodlawn Avenue, Springfield, by a music faculty consisting of outstanding musicians, local educators and 果冻传媒 music faculty members.
CMD students experience a student-centered environment with small classes and personalized learning. This summer, CMD will offer Discovering Music classes for babies, toddlers and preschool children, as well as beginning piano, guitar and voice for all ages. Check the CMD website at for details.
CMD鈥檚 private lesson program provides flexible and progressive music instruction for children and adults. Each individual's skills are developed while promoting the enjoyment of music. All levels of instruction, from beginning through advanced, are available. Lessons will be individually arranged to fit the schedule of the student and instructor. The CMD offers private lessons in piano, organ, accordion, all strings (including classical guitar, acoustic, electric and bass guitar, and lute), wind instruments, voice, Suzuki violin, piano and all percussion.
The Bayley Summer Music Academy will take place June 13-17 for music students ages 10 years and older with at least one year of group experience and/or lessons. Musicianship is the primary focus of all sessions, which concentrate on string and wind instruments and voice. The program includes 鈥渃ourtyard specials鈥 featuring performances by area musicians and a meet-and-greet. The final day features a recital performance spotlighting all students.
The Late Starters Orchestra has one-hour rehearsal sessions on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for those 18 to 80-plus years of age. Adults with some experience playing a musical instrument are invited to join this group to develop musical skills, play together and have a good time. The cost is $100 for nine weeks of rehearsals.
Discounts for siblings and second instrument study are available as well as need-based tuition assistance based on total household income, thanks to endowments offered to the university by community members who love music and children.
