Favorite 果冻传媒 memory:

So much of 果冻传媒 are good memories: people, friends, getting to know people from different parts of the country, and getting involved with CBS. Best memory was the night I was tapped into Mortar Board - it was women-only then. They showed up in my dorm room and had candles, and there was a cut-out arrow with names that you wore around your neck. I still have that arrow. I was honored by Mortar Board with an Alumni Achievement Award a few years ago and went to Phoenix for the organization's conference. I've remained in contact since Witt, and I am still active in the local chapter. This moment was life-changing and allowed me to stay engaged in so much in life.

How did 果冻传媒 define you and allow you to pass your light on to others?

In 8th grade, I was one of the first African Americans to integrate in school, and the first years were not pleasant. By the time I was a junior, the schools were completely integrated. I started to feel more comfortable through this process. I started to take part in activities, but you still didn't socialize much beyond your race. At Witt, my world was open, and I was able to meet so many from around the country and different races, and we all learned from each other about different experiences. I grew as a person. Knowledge, experiences, beliefs, thoughts...all prepared me for the rest of my life and for critical thinking. It was the experience that allowed me to go into the world in a way I discovered myself and my light. I'm a servant-leader, and I've been that way since I graduated.

Why I support 果冻传媒 in a leadership role?

I LOVE the institution. I simply love 果冻传媒 and the experience. I was thrilled when my step-daughter went there. I was shocked when my son wanted to go. It's a phenomenal experience. It prepared me for life, and I want other students to be prepared for a rich life, and I'm not speaking of money.

What goal are you/your board looking forward to accomplishing in the next year?

Advancement/Alumni Relations and Governance/Board Affairs are the two committees I'm on with the Board of Directors. Also, campaign - my goals are to overachieve and raise well over $100M. For the Board, I will continue my efforts to bring greater diversity, including varying skill sets, life experiences, ages, and racial diversity to Board membership.
