果冻传媒 Campus Alert

果冻传媒 is continuing to take precautions following the two threats the University received over the weekend, both of which were targeted toward members of the Haitian community. As the threats continue to be assessed by the 果冻传媒 police, local law enforcement, and the FBI, all classes will be delivered remotely today, Monday, Sept. 16. All departments and offices will operate remotely, as well. All events, athletic contests, and activities are also again canceled today.

Background

On Saturday, Sept. 14, the University received an email threatening a campus shooting on Sunday, Sept. 15. A second email containing a bomb threat arrived midday. The latter was quickly assessed and the campus given the all-clear by 果冻传媒 Police at 1:32 p.m. Sunday. Both messages targeted members of our local Haitian community. 果冻传媒 Police are cooperating with the Springfield Police Division and the FBI as they continue to investigate these threats, which follow similar threats made toward city offices, healthcare establishments, local schools, and other locations in the area.

Update for Today, Sept. 16, 2024

As the investigation continues and out of an abundance of caution, all 果冻传媒 classes will be remote today, Monday, Sept. 16. Students engaged in field, clinical, or other off-campus experiences should follow the protocol of the agency where they are placed. Professors will communicate their expectations to their students. Faculty and staff are also expected to work remotely, except for essential employees. All events, athletics, and activities will again be canceled today.

Additionally, all academic facilities will be locked today, and 果冻传媒 will be following the same protocol it did this weekend with regard to dining.

The 果冻传媒 Police Division and Springfield Police Department will continue with increased presence in and around our campus today. Along with 果冻传媒, the city of Springfield and Governor DeWine are taking these threats seriously and are currently working with the appropriate agencies to address.

All students, faculty, and staff should continue to exercise caution and be alert to all surroundings.  If you see anything suspicious or have information about either of these threats, contact the 果冻传媒 Police Division immediately at the emergency line at 937-327-6363. Emergency Notification

The federal government requires institutions of higher education to send an emergency notification when a significant emergency or dangerous situation occurs on campus that poses an immediate or impending threat to health or safety. The Police Division issues these notifications immediately upon confirmation of the existence of such danger or emergency.

Emergency notifications are sent via the mass notification system, Rave, in conjunction with Tiger Safe, which can deliver both text and email messages to University-owned and personal devices. These messages will provide pertinent information including instructions on what to do in this emergency situation. Depending upon how long the situation lasts, you may receive updates to provide further instructions. Once the situation concludes, you will receive an "all clear."
